“Smokey Stover”

Smokey Stover was a comic strip character in the pre and post WW II days.  The strip was published in the Chicago Tribune.  He was created by the cartoonist Bill Holman.  I grew up in a small town in southern Indiana named Boonville.  My father was a physician there after having attended Indiana University Medical School.  He was then nicknamed “Smokey” for obvious reasons.  My brother, Jack, and I were subsequently nicknamed the same.
